The Laulhère Authentique Ché Beret in black. This is the real deal - the exact same brand and style worn by Ché . Laulhère discovered that the famous Ché Guevara beret with the gold star was in fact one of the Laulhère “Vrai Basque” labels from the 50’s and 60’s. They managed to get access to the last beret he ever wore to not only confirm it was a Laulhère but also to help reproduce the exact beret. The lining was complicated to reproduce but the result is great. The leather headband is in a tan 100% leather with a yellow strip and they have also made a vintage antique gold colored metal star as a removable pin.
Laulhère was founded in 1840 at the foot of the Pyrénées, near Pau in the commune of Oloron Sainte-Marie which in its heyday boasted a dozen beret-makers, and is known as the "cradle of the beret".
Laulhère is now the only remaining beret-maker in France, and has a unique and exceptionally ancient heritage. With the unification with its sibling factory Blancq-Olibet, Laulhère now embodies the entire tradition with a mission to preserve this invaluable cultural practice as part of France’s heritage and is working to resurrect the beret in France and around the world.
